What do the visitors say?

"We visited the Museum on August, 19th, 2022. We are from Portugal and were travelling in Norway for 11 days. We really loved your museum, in a fantastic place that gives us, visitors coming from a distant country, an impressive information about your culture, your roots, your arts. We are grateful to the musicians that performed for us that afternoon, transporting our imagination to ancient times, where we could feel their emotions and knowledge as performers." "We stopped for lunch in the museum café with no expectations of anything other than the usual self service sandwich and burger menu. We were very pleasantly surprised by both the efficient, friendly and professional serving staff and the high standard and presentation of the food (pan fried salmon and spaghetti carbonara). The food was really delicious and beautifully cooked - congratulations to the chef. After a few days of grey burgers, lukewarm food and wilted lettuce, it was a real treat to eat in a restaurant where the kitchen and staff clearly took a pride in both the standard of service and the food they create. // The museum itself was charming, and the staff working there friendly and eager to interact with visitors and answer questions. We learned about traditional folk instruments and heard them played. All round, a very good experience." // suebudd, Tripadvisor 2021.

"This is a very extensive outdoor museum with a lot of old houses situated in a nice park. And there is also a good restaurant inside the museum." // Looking_for_charme, Tripadvisor 2020.

"On a day with nice weather this museum is worth a visit. In addition to visit the buiding also try the hike on the trail around the area. Nice good trail and many posters showing the cyclus for the forrest. The few daily tours/activities also worth å visit inside the museum area."  // Kristian F, Tripadvisor 2020.

"It was mid winter, and snow everywhere, but the museum was still open. The lass in charge actually opened some sections just for us to see, and she also put on a video of the beautiful musical instruments. The dolls dressed in National Costume were magnificent. The costumes hand made and intricate. We had an absolutely delicious lunch at the Munkekroen restaurant, then went to see the 100 or so regional houses from years gone by in the open air museum. It was a wonderful day out." // Irishrover, Tripadvisor 2020.

"This museum was huge and very interesting. As a tourist you’ll learn/see what life was like in Norway." // S.K., Google 2019.

"Impressive collection of historical buildings from Valdres, in a beautiful setting. Good information and a great view." // G.G., Google 2019.

"The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I was able to get some assistance with some genealogical research, my kids had a blast exploring the many buildings, we saw animals, and the gift shop featured locally made items and not just the usual souvenirs. I wish we'd had even more time to explore and enjoy the museum. It's definitely worth a visit."// 628jsf, Tripadvisor 2019.
